Will I be
guaranteed 20/20 vision after surgery?
| INTACS is a
remarkably successful procedure. In U.S. clinical
studies, 74% of people with INTACS saw 20/20 or better
without glasses or corrective lenses, and 97% saw 20/40 or
better (the legal limit in most states for driving without
corrective lenses).

Will I be in
any pain?
| During the
INTACS procedure the patient is awake and comfortable. The
eye is numbed using "eye drop" anesthesia and the
procedure itself is painless. After the procedure it is
typical that patients experience some discomfort such as
itchiness, dryness, or watery eyes, but these symptoms
usually disappear in the following days. Normally, the
patient is given eye drop medication to help control any
such discomfort they might experience.

Will the
treatment be permanent?
| During the
procedure, INTACS inserts are placed between layers of the
cornea to decrease the curvature of the cornea.
Unless the INTACS are removed from the eye, the vision
correction resulting from the procedure will last
indefinitely.

What if my
vision changes in the future?
| Unlike
other permanent refractive procedures, INTACS inserts can
be removed or exchanged to provide enhancements to your
vision.

Will I ever
need glasses again?
| Since most
patients achieve 20/40 vision or better, the need for
glasses under normal conditions is virtually eliminated. Some patients
continue to use glasses in specific circumstances such as
night driving. Most people (whether or not they
have INTACS) will need reading glasses as they reach
middle age.

Are INTACS
safe?
•
• |
FDA-approved as safe and effective
FAA-approved for pilots |
While no surgery is completely risk-free, the INTACS
procedure is remarkably safe and successful.
Clinical studies in the U.S. showed that there are
complications in less than 1% of INTACS procedures, and in
all cases where INTACS were removed, patients were able to
be corrected to 20/20 vision or better.

Why choose
INTACS?
•
•
•
•
|
Great Vision. More than half of Intacs inserts patients
see significantly better than 20/20.
Enhances the natural vision system of the cornea, without
permanent removal of tissue from the eye.
Are removable in case future vision requirements change.
Eliminates the need for contacts or glasses in 97% of
patients.
